Genreflections

I am so excited to talk Genreflections, the 4th annual library sponsored art contest. Each year the library highlights one of the areas of the collection (content or genre) and encourages students to create art based on the topic. Our last winner, Savindi, whose art is shown at the left, won for Science Fiction and got to choose the next topic. She chose Social Science. This category is particularly exciting because there are so many options when you consider history as artistic inspiration. I am so excited to see what students create! Put your curiosity and creativity to work. Check out the details below:

SOCIAL SCIENCE (aka History)!

Your FAQs:

  • Students may submit ONE (1) entry per format

    • Photography

    • Drawing/painting

    • Digital Art

    • Sculpture

  • Work must be an original creation by the artist from this school year.

  • Any plagiarized work will be disqualified.

  • Submission sheets will be available Monday, March 1, 2021.

  • Submissions will be accepted between March 22-March 26, 2021.

  • The library will host an evening with the artists on Thursday, April 22, 2021.

  • Submissions will be evaluated by a panel of guest judges and awards will be given to the top three (3) in each category.

  • The submission with the top evaluation in each format will be put on permanent display in the library to highlight that genre’s collection.

  • Work will be evaluated based on the following:

    • Interpretation and clarity of theme to the viewer

    • Creativity and originality of depicted theme

    • Quality of artistic composition and overall design based on theme

    • Overall impression
