I admit that this year's reading is off to a slow but exciting start. January is an exciting time for me as a reader because I have just created a long list of "to be reads" from the different "best of 2020" recommendation and the ALA awards will be announced on Monday, Jan. 25, 2021, at 8 a.m. CT.

I can hardly wait!

Until then, here's what has captured my mornings this week:

I just finished this horrific tale of historic adventure (with a dash of romance). It literally has something for everyone! Don't be discouraged by the length, because once you get going it's hard to put down. I was charmed by the main characters and revolted by the lice-like death bringers. All set in historic Shanghai.

What's not to like?

Tweet Cute? You might mean, too cute. This is a charming crush story. That's right. A Crush story. Honestly, it's just too adorable to be called a love story. The story revolves around two battling teens that are blowing up Twitter about their family's claim to the greatest grilled cheese but ultimately manage to tweet their way into each other's hearts. Will their true identities be revealed and a love match created? I'll have to finish to see!

One of my 2021 resolutions is to do more studying about topics I am interested in. I'm just into this book on Iyengar Yoga for women and couldn't be more delighted. Geeta Iyengar is a legend and I'm hanging on her every word and interpretation of how best to practice as a 21st century female.

I'm already captivated by the illustrators use of color and the role it is going to play in the story telling. I've been in a bit of a graphic novel and this one seems perfect to break the drought.

Happy reading this week!

And maybe I'll be seeing you soon--in the library.
