Where has the time gone!?
Can you believe there are only 5 more weeks of school!?
So, while you've been busy testing, I've been busy finalizing the Golden Jaguar Book Tour survey to curate next year's list. Feel free to take it now!
I am so excited about this week's 2021 Golden Jaguar election and then next week's student input for the 2021-2022 list. I'm in total library geek mode!
And in the meantime, I've been reading, reading, reading.

New graphic novel alert!
I was pretty excited about the potential for this book when I saw the cover and read the review. And it didn't disappoint. It's about a young girl that longs to get a puppy but discovers that she has a pretty strong allergy. The story also weaves in additional sub-plots about friendship and adjusting to a new sibling. It reads quickly and the characters feel familiar. I can't wait to get this into the hands of my students (and maybe on next year's list--hint, hint), especially if they love Smile.

One of this year's Newbery Honor Books and a beautiful read so far. As soon as I started reading I felt transported to Thailand. The author brings the country alive through descriptive details. I felt like I could smell the fruit and grilled meat! I am rooting for Pong and feel so invested that he find what he needs in his life's quest.
Audio books:

OMG. Just so, so good. I love Efren so much! He's funny, and smart, and brave, and struggling. I felts such a range of emotions as Efren and his family struggle with issues around citizenship. Who is safe? Will the people I love be ok? How can I tell my friends?
You do not want to miss this book. Add it to your t.b.r pile straight away.

This is the newest book by one of my all-time favorite authors, Sharon Flake. So far it's another solid story. It has a touch of magical realism that brings out the mystery and magic of friendship. I hopeful that it ends as well as it began.
I can't believe that next week is the last week to check out books from the library.
Be sure to get your requests in and picked up soon!
Happy reading everyone!
