The weeks are really zipping by this year. I find it hard to believe it's already April. The library closes for 2022 business in just a few weeks so that I can do inventory, get books back, and begin library preparations for next year. While I'm keeping one eye on the future, I'm still squeezing in time to read.

The Last Cuentista is completely different than I anticipated. I think in part because it's a Newbery winner I wasn't expecting a science fiction story. But it's engaging, creative, and certainly worth my time. I can see a string of holds on this for next year. Students will love to find out if Petra manages to survive. How will she build a new life after being in cryosleep for decades and waking to discover evil forces at work that have trapped everyone on board?

I'm enjoying the audiobook of Raybearer a great deal. It is refreshing to dive into a fantasy world that is so new in tone and structure. I am excited to follow Tarisai's story and figure out her secrets and her quest. Starting with, is her mother good or evil?

This love story in verse is tender, sweet & important. It tells the story of two teens, one Jewish--one Muslim, that life on different sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In a modern twist on Romeo & Juliet we see love blossom and change as the realities and burdens of live creep into their bliss.
Happy reading everyone!
